Here is a curated list of marches, demonstrations, and other events that readers might like to join. Most are climate-related in some way. Some may be overtly political, but none are partizan. The list is not exhaustive but it is as comprehensive as I can make it. It is in loosely chronological order, with events coming up soon at the top. Note that most items include a link to the organizers’ site so you can learn more. Last edited March 8th, 2017
- Pink Slips to Trump, March 15, 2017. Also called “Ides of Trump,” and similar nicknames. The idea is to send President Trump postcards that say “you’re fired,” all on the same day. If enough people send postcards, it will make a real statement and news event. If you’re outside the US, or otherwise anticipate the mail being slow, mail yours a few days early so that all the postcards arrive on or near the same day.
- March for Science, April 22, 2017, Washington, DC. Satellite marches in other cities are also being planned. This march is in support of science-based policy (such as real climate action) and in support of scientists themselves, many of whom are facing serious professional roadblocks right now and even personal persecution for trying to tell us the truth about climate change and other matters.
- People’s Climate March, April 29th, 2017, Washington, DC. The march is billed as for “jobs, justice, and the climate,” and will be the culmination of a series of events across the country. “To change everything, we need everyone.”
- Labor March, May 1st, 2017. I don’t know anything about this one, yet. Stay tuned.
